Privacy policy
Yudo is food costing and kitchen operations software for restaurants, made by Yudo LLC. This policy says what Yudo collects through its phone app, web dashboard and website, what it does with it, and who else handles it. The Chrome extension has its own page: getyudo.com/privacy/extension.
Who this covers
- Yudo is used by restaurant businesses ("your business"), the people on their team who sign in, and visitors to getyudo.com.
- A business decides who joins its Yudo and what goes into it. For information about its team, such as names, roles and hours, the business is responsible, and Yudo handles it on the business's behalf.
What Yudo collects
- Your account: your name and email address from Google when you sign in, your language, and the businesses you belong to, with your role and permissions.
- Your business: its name, the kind of place it is, its locations and their addresses, its hours, and what you tell Yudo about it during setup.
- What your team puts in: catalog items and prices, recipes and their steps, inventory counts, order lists, tasks and their photos, receipts, invoices, product photos, menu photos, files you import, and messages to Yudo's assistant.
- From services you connect:
- Square or Clover: sales, menu, locations, and team members (name, email, phone) with their hours and pay rates, to show sales and labor cost.
- Google Business Profile: reviews and listed hours. Yudo posts a review reply only after someone on your team approves it.
- Emails sent to your business's Yudo invoice address, with their attachments.
- From the phone: a push notification token, so Yudo can send alerts, and the photos you take or choose. The app uses the camera only when you take a photo or scan: receipts, products, recipes, counts and tasks. It does not use your microphone or your location.
- Billing: Yudo doesn't charge yet. Once paid plans start, Stripe will handle payment cards, and Yudo never sees full card numbers.
- Cookies: getyudo.com and the dashboard use cookies only to remember your language and keep you signed in. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits without cookies.
- On the website:
- Questions typed into "Chat with Yudo" are sent to an AI model to answer. Yudo may keep the questions, not who asked them, to improve the answers.
- The conversation lives only in your browser and ends when you close the page.
- Technical records: Yudo's servers record requests (when, which feature, errors) to keep Yudo running and secure.
How Yudo uses it
- To run Yudo for your business: cost recipes, read receipts and invoices, keep prices and inventory, send alerts and summaries, and answer questions in chat.
- To bill your business, once paid plans start.
- To keep Yudo secure and fix problems.
- To improve Yudo, including testing new AI models on information from businesses that agreed to it.
- Yudo does not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use it to judge anyone's creditworthiness.
AI
- Yudo uses AI models from Anthropic and Mistral to:
- read receipts, invoices, menus and files;
- match products to your catalog;
- write drafts and summaries, and answer questions in chat;
- speak during setup.
- What a feature needs is sent to the model over an encrypted connection, and the answer comes back to Yudo. The providers process it to give that answer, under their business terms.
- AI can be wrong, so Yudo changes your prices only after someone on your team approves it, or after an owner sets the assistant to do it without asking.
What other businesses can see
- Nothing that identifies your business. Your prices, recipes, receipts and team stay inside your business.
- Yudo uses information across businesses only in these ways:
- Benchmarks: if Yudo offers benchmarks, they are combined figures, such as the typical price paid for a product in an area.
- A benchmark is shown only when at least five businesses are behind it.
- It never names a business or shows any one business's price.
- Benchmarks are never sold.
- To keep your prices out, email contact@getyudo.com.
- Recognizing products and stores: product names, brands, pack sizes and store names from many businesses help Yudo recognize the same product or store across suppliers. They also help write the shared guides Yudo uses to read each store's receipts. Those guides describe a store's receipts, never a business.
- Typical weights: when a restaurant enters a weight, such as how much one onion weighs, Yudo staff may add it to the shared table every business uses, without saying where it came from.
- Benchmarks: if Yudo offers benchmarks, they are combined figures, such as the typical price paid for a product in an area.
Who else handles it
- These companies handle information only to provide their service to Yudo:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
- Railway: Yudo's servers.
- Vercel: the dashboard and website, and website analytics.
- Anthropic and Mistral: AI.
- Expo: app updates and push notifications, delivered by Apple and Google.
- Google: sign-in, and Business Profile when you connect it.
- Square and Clover: when you connect them.
- Stripe: payments, once paid plans start.
- Maileroo: email, including emails sent to your invoice address.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): turns your location's street address into coordinates for the weather. It receives the address, not your name.
- Open-Meteo: weather. It receives your location's coordinates, not your name.
- Yudo may also share information:
- when the law requires it;
- to protect people or Yudo from harm;
- as part of a merger or sale of Yudo. This policy keeps applying to it.
How long Yudo keeps it
- As long as your business uses Yudo. If it stops, its information is kept so it can come back.
- Once paid plans have started, a business with no subscription for 12 months may be deleted, after its owners are told by email at least 30 days before.
- You can delete your account at any time (below); it's deleted 30 days after you ask. Deleted information also leaves Yudo's backups as they expire.
- Billing records, if any, are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your choices
- To delete your account: Settings → Delete account on the dashboard, Settings → Delete my account in the app, or email contact@getyudo.com. A business you're the primary owner of goes to a co-owner you choose, or closes and is deleted too. Nothing you made is deleted for 30 days, so you can change your mind; after that it's permanent. Details: getyudo.com/delete-account.
- To get a copy of information about you, correct it, or delete it: email contact@getyudo.com. A team member's request about records they made at work may be passed to their employer, who controls that information.
- To keep your prices out of benchmarks, if Yudo offers them: email contact@getyudo.com.
- To stop push notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
Security
- Every connection to Yudo is encrypted (HTTPS), and the database provider encrypts stored data.
- Each person sees only what their role and permissions allow.
- No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, Yudo will tell you as the law requires.
Children
- Yudo is for businesses and their adult staff. It is not meant for anyone under 18.
Changes
- If this policy changes in a way that matters, Yudo will say so on the dashboard or by email before the change takes effect.
- The date at the top shows the latest version.
